The Governing Body at The Loyne Specialist School works voluntarily for the good of the school and is responsible for overseeing all strategic matters relating to school life. The Governors are responsible for deciding and agreeing school policies and for ensuring that the school is run effectively so that it is able to meet its aims.
The Governors never lose sight of the fact that every decision they make ultimately affects the children and young adults who attend The Loyne Specialist School. The Governors have two subcommittees; Personnel, Buildings and Finance and Curriculum. They meet at least once a term to discuss policy, finance, buildings, appointments, school improvements and very importantly, safety, health and well-being. These committees report to the full Governing body with recommendations.
Governors core strategic functions are:
a. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
b. Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
c. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
