Healthy Schools - Emotional Health and Wellbeing
The emotional health and wellbeing of our students is always at the forefront of our minds, in all that we do at The Loyne Specialist School. It is one of our key aims and objectives for all our students and it can be seen reflected in the day to day life of the school as well as in specified EHWB theme days, which are held across the year.
This year, students across the school have been exploring the positive impact of meditation and mindfulness through programmes and apps. This has been applied in a variety of ways across the school: whole class meditation, specified times for individual students to listen with headphones independently or through self-direction, where students have recognised that they need time away from others in order to redirect their thoughts.
One student explained:
“The Stop Breathe Think app has been invaluable in helping me deal with my anxiety and other issues.
Stop Breath Think. Simple, relaxing, brilliant.”
