My name is Rachel Gow and I was appointed as a Parent Governor, at The Loyne Specialist School, in 2014. I have a seventeen year old daughter currently in FE, who has attended the school from the age of three years old. I also have a twenty one year old son, who is studying History at University.
During my time, as a parent and a Governor, I have found the school to be both dynamic and caring with a highly committed team of staff and fellow Governors.
I have no connection to education whatsoever and have spent my entire career working for the NHS, more recently, as part of the Community District Nursing Team, based in Morecambe. I hope that by being a Parent Governor, I may be able to add value from a different view point and have a positive influence where it counts.
I sit on both the Curriculum and Pay Committees and have supported interviewing our invaluable members of staff. I am often seen visiting the school either engaging with other parents/carers in Chill n Chat, attending school assemblies, or as my role as Link PSHE Governor. We also enjoy supporting Friends Of The Loyne events as a family.
I feel extremely privileged being part of an outstanding school and very proud to be able to help that continue.
