The school day at The Loyne begins at 8:55am and runs through until 3:15pm.
All pupils have access to a full 31 hours and 40 minutes of education per week. This does not include any extended school time.
Lunch and breaks are classed as taught time as all pupils have a range of skills targeted by trained teaching assistants and learning support staff. These skills include feeding, social, communication, behaviour, and interaction skills amongst other priority targets for the individual child.
The children can bring in packed lunches, or arrange to have a school dinner. Menus can be found on the LCC website.
We are able to cater for all dietary needs and can support those children who experience feeding difficulties with advice from the Speech and Language Therapy service.
While most children are transported to and from school, we are very happy to discuss and support, where agreed, parents and carers who would prefer that their child walks to school, cycles or uses public transport. In these cases, it is essential that any arrangements for increased independence must be done in consultation with the school. For more information, please see the relevant age phase link.
“I’m not sure how he will do without coming to school for a week he really loves it and everyone who works with him. It is so comforting to see how happily he goes to school, also how much his speech and interaction has come on is incredible. We can really see the love and care he is shown everyday and as parents we couldn’t ask for anything more.”
